Criteria 1 Organisational strategy and vision

The sport organisation has a clear vision which follows health enhancing physical activity and healthy lifestyle factors. The strategy of the sport organisation is designed based on physical activity and healthy lifestyle factors. The vision and the strategy of the sport organisation are well communicated among staff, among members and among wider public (local community). The vision and strategy are presented to other stakeholders in the local community (municipality, education institutions, health centres and other NGOs).

The programs, events and activities of sport organisation are well promoted in the local community using social media, media – especially local media (radio, TV, newsletters), posters and leaflets, internal communication channels (e-mailing, verbal communication) etc.

To earn a Quality Mark the organisation needs to have a strong cooperation with local schools and/or other education institutions and provide them PA programmes and activities in schools for students (regular sport programmes, events, promotional activities).

It is important to have a strong cooperation with local health centre and/or other health sector institutions. Health centres can inform users about the sport organisation’s offer and PA programmes. This helps in promotion of the healthy lifestyle to the citizens and also include staff from the healthy centres to actively contribute to events and organised physical activities.

Part of the strategic development of organisation needs to be also a strong cooperation with municipality and/or other local authorities and with other NGOs and companies.

Criteria 2 Organisational management

Organisations that would like to qualify for the Healthy Club Quality Mark need to have an active (professional and volunteering) management team and stable sources of revenue.

The sport organisation needs to have an updated list of members with all necessary information, but at the same time abide by GDPR (European data protection) rules.

Programmes and activities organised by the sport organisation are led by qualified trainers and coaches. At the same time, the sport organisation has established cooperation with various external experts.

Criteria 3 Qualified trainers, coaches, volunteers and management

All coaches and trainers have obtained formal education in the field of sport or informal education in the field of sport, recognised by the Ministry of Sport. Trainers and coaches have to be certified with valid license. Constant additional education for trainer and coaches is necessary as well as for other staff (management, volunteers). It is important that coaches and trainers participate in additional education in the field of sport and healthy lifestyle, that is organised at least once each year.

Trainers and coaches are also promoters of healthy lifestyles and motivate participants to be regularly physically active. Besides regular physical activity other factors have to be promoted (healthy food, active leisure time, regular activities outdoors, stress release methods etc.).

Criteria 4 Structured recreational sport programmes

Sport organisations that are applying for the Healthy Club Quality Mark offer various regular health enhancing physical activity programs for various specific target groups (children, teenagers, adults, elderly, people with special needs, beginners, advanced class, etc.).

The physical activity programmes are well designed and developed by qualified experts for a specific target group of people. Exercises are appropriate for the age, physical fitness and skills of participants and follow the goals of the specific programme (improving or maintaining the elements of physical fitness: endurance, strength, flexibility, coordination, stability, agility; prevention from and elimination of health issues). The lifestyle and life environment of the participants is considered.

Health-enhancing behaviour is reached with long term changes and healthy lifestyle. Besides regular physical activity other factors have to be promoted (healthy food, active leisure time, regular activities outdoors, stress release methods etc.). The duration of each regular PA programme is at least 2 hours per week and lasts at least 3 months. The size of each group is limited to maximum 30 participants, the maximum of 20 participants per trainer is recommended. Individual approach and consulting is recommended. Each member has opportunity to join full year programme that includes at least 80 hours per year.

Physical fitness of participants is tested and the progress is monitored regularly at least once per year.

Criteria 5 Sport facilities

Physical activities take place in appropriate sport facilities (indoors and/or outdoors), which are regularly and well maintained. The sports facility and sports equipment are safe and appropriate for the particular sport activity. A high level of safety and hygiene have to be maintained in all aspects of usage and maintenance of the facility no matter whether you are renting or owning the facility and equipment. Sustainability and ecology have to be considered.

Criteria 6 Quality control

Continuous quality control ensures accomplishment of the goals, maintains the quality of sport organisation offer and provides possibility for improvement and upgrades. The quality of organisation of PA programs and events is monitored continuously. The professional performance of trainers and coaches is monitored regularly as well as the design and content of PA programs. PA programs have to be designed for a specific target group (children, teenagers, adults, elderly, people with special needs) with appropriate exercises according to the goals of the PA program and physical fitness and skills of the participants. Trainers and coaches prepare monthly and yearly reports with participants lists for each PA program.

Upgrades and adjustment of PA programs and activities are prepared based on evaluation results, experience and available resources (financial, human, infrastructure). Sustainability of the programs and follow up have to be considered (maintaining the participants – regular participation of each member).
